Georgia Reconsidering Online Casino Gaming

The state of Georgia is reconsidering casino gaming after a long time of refusal to allow them. The state government had banned any form of gambling within the state including online gaming. The idea of banning casino gaming within the state was widely supported by the Christian Coalition who perceived it a threat to the values and morals of the state’s population. However, the government is once again considering lifting the ban from casino gaming with the perspective of increasing the state’s revenue so the money earned can be spent for some noble causes in the state.

Locations Chosen For Casino Gambling

The main locations chosen to start setting up property for casino gambling venues in the state of Georgia are Lake Lanier, Hutchison Island and Jekyll Island. These are major tourist destinations of the country. Thousands of tourists visit these places every year. The main benefit to setting up land-based casinos in these particular areas is that the gaming venues would attract more and more gamblers and tourists, which means more revenue for the state.

Tourists and gamblers from around the world will come here to play casino games. The income generated (money left behind by the casino players) will be a revenue for the noble projects of the state. It may be used to fund children’s education, finance young people who want to go to college and other noble causes.

The other main reason for choosing these places as physical casino venues is that the area is known for its oil industry. Many businessmen from around the world come here for business purposes. Setting up casinos here would give them incentive to spend time there. This will generate a huge income from the gamblers and businessmen.

Who Came Up With The Idea Of Legalizing Casino Gambling In Georgia?

Representative Ron Stevens introduced a bill suggesting the legalization of land-based venues in the state of Georgia. While neighboring states are already expanding their online gaming industry, the state of Georgia is still having issue difficulties with establishing physical gaming venues.

Therefore, they are only considering a few selected locations. This out-of-date decision by the state assembly is widely supported by the Christian Coalition. The organization perceives itself as the moral police who have a strong say in deciding the establishment of casinos.

The rumor is that the state has also selected Underground Atlanta as another site for a casino. The legislation has not given any clear indication regarding the use of this particular site. Many developers and gaming casinos are ready to put their money in and open land-based casinos there but the state legislation has not given them the green light yet. It cannot be said just how the government will be dealing with the establishment of physical casinos. However, the assembly has not passed any bills regarding the establishment of online casinos within the state of Georgia. It will reconsider it in future.

To capture the attention of tourists and gamblers, Georgia needs to work on a plan to expand the gambling industry into different areas within its state boundaries. Many neighboring states are already on their way to hitting new peaks whereas Georgia is still stuck with the notion of legalizing only land-based casinos.
