Mixed Reactions On Governor Coumo’s Proposal To Expand Casino Gambling In New York

It is alleged that a group close to Governor Coumo has received a couple of million dollars from parties interested in gambling even as the Legislature approved a constitutional amendment to allow privately owned casinos in New York.

The amendment has to be approved by lawmakers and then voters to make it operative. If finally approved, we may soon see seven full-scale privately owned casinos in New York State worth billions of dollars.

Not surprisingly, Albany is rumored to be the city likely to be benefited by the new amendment. The capital city of New York State has a thriving night life. After all, it has a favorable geographical location. It is equidistant between Montreal and New York City and also in close proximity to Buffalo and Boston.

Politically, casino interests leave no stone unturned to have their way. It is reported that gambling companies, casinos, and Indian tribes fund heavily to federal candidates.

But Mr.Cuomo has disputed he was influenced by money from the gambling industry – even though he has said in a speech earlier that his support to legalize gambling is for the jobs that casino industry can generate.

An outside chance for gambling and casinos in Texas

Legalized casinos and gambling are hot topics in the State of Texas. Budgetary shortfall has forced the state senator to ask his legislators to consider a gaming bill that can generate potential revenue to avert cuts in spending in health care and education.

But there are obstacles in the way. According to a study, nobody has been able to bring a concrete plan that convinces that gambling and casinos will benefit everybody in the Texas counties.

Second, anti-gaming forces have a strong say in Texas. They have been controlling key committee positions for the past number of years.

The general consensus is a gaming referendum will pass. That is because the public in Texas want gaming and casinos in their state.

They have a strong reason too. Every year Texans spend close to $2.5 billion in casinos and gambling in other states. Surely they feel this money, if spent in their own state, can boost businesses.

Is Taunton ready for Las Vegas style gambling?

As recently as April this year parents in Taunton were concerned that a tribal casino is likely to come up near East Taunton Elementary School. They were apprehensive that a surge in traffic will pose risks of accidents as well as have an adverse effect on the quality of life.

Things aren’t decided as the debate rages on various issues. Some people feel the dangers are overstated as the school as per them is set way off.

Those against gambling have other worries. They feel with casinos in the neighborhood, the character of the locality will undergo a paradigm shift. Traditionally, the area is known to be a closely knit community.

But the talk in recent weeks is revolved around whether Taunton will soon have full-fledged gambling. The lure is new jobs and the potential of millions of dollars to rake in.

Everybody is keeping their fingers crossed. The discussions will be hot and will justify on whether the economy should rebuild on casinos and gambling.

Bringing Casinos Into Manhattan

Soon we may have a casino operating in the New York metropolitan area – something that was intensely longed by the people here. It is no surprise that gambling companies would love to serve the high-income group among New Yorkers and the affluent tourists.

“The state surely would not like to lose potentially billions of dollars,” says an administration official who prefers to be anonymous.

But things wouldn’t be easygoing for the Governor Andrew Cuomo. He will need the support of the Assembly speaker who, for long, has been opposing gambling in the district.

In any case, the rationale for setting up casinos is to rake in revenue and we would expect the state to seek a high rate of taxation.

All this is a follow-up of the Governor’s abandonment of building America’s largest convention justify at the Aquaduct racetrack in Queens. Now the idea toyed by the governor is to develop a combination casino and convention justify around the Big Apple.

There are plenty of proposals doing the rounds. Locations like Yonkers and Belmont Park are rumored, so as locations in Coney Island and Randalls Island. We have to wait and see what gets finalized.

The governor is hoping to link a casino license to the combination justify to attract the gambling companies. Luckily, the legislature has endorsed a constitutional amendment to allow seven full-scale casinos in state – but referendum by voters is keenly awaited.

New look planned for Palms Casino in Las Vegas

Palms Casino wants gamblers to have the ultimate experience. Total 250 new slot machines will be added, and the justify’s property bar will be refashioned.

The resort, a popular destination with the younger set of tourists as well as celebrities and actors, has 653 rooms and a casino spread over 95,000 square feet area. This gambling space, having The Hugh Hefner Sky villa, is listed by CNN as having among the world’s 15 most expensive suites.

Palms President Joseph Magliarditi is hopeful that all the rooms and suites in the original Palms Tower will be complete after remodeling and available for occupancy by September.

The Hotel has been quite in the news by hosting MTV’s Video Music awards, “Celebrity Poker Showdown,” “Girls Next Door,” and similar shows.

Fudging Florida’s gambling laws

Florida is famous not just for sunshine. Besides sun and surf, Florida has booming business in casinos too. So, it is no wonder gambling investors are setting up sweepstakes in the City’s strip malls. But the serious side of the story is they are dodging the state’s casino laws. Or so says Les Barnal who heads a movement to stop gambling in America.

Les Barnal was vociferous when he said that predatory gambling has ruined American people by pushing them deeper into debt and created an addiction that was difficult to remove.

In any case, gamblers in Florida were deeply disappointed when a bill that would have marshaled in the largest expansion in Florida’s gambling history was annulled by its legislative sponsor in the first week of February this year.

Florida State has traditionally been known to have a family-friendly economy that shuns gambling. Presently, Florida does not allow expansion of casinos except those operated by the Seminole Indian tribe and selected “racinos.”

Diamond has always been associated with wealth. And how can anybody forget that diamond is a women’s best friend? So, any online casino that wishes to draw huge women-player crowd cannot ignore this precious gem.

Diamond Cave

Cryptologic, the software provider, has come up with an online slot game “Diamond Cave” that involves a diamond expedition. It is available live at VIP Casino and InterCasino. The game contains symbols depicting map, hat, pick axe, rucksack, and knife. All these items will be required by the diamond explorer (player) in the game. Players will also encounter bats and snakes in the quest. Diamonds are located in the Diamond Cave, which is also the wild symbol and gives away huge jackpot payout.

The scatter symbol of this slot game is the diamond. The bonus game starts when the cave surfaces on the first reel, and, on the fifth reel, the diamond surfaces. The explorer or the player needs to make five stops in the cave. At each stop, three potfuls of diamonds wait for him or her. The player has to pick one pot at each stop to earn bonus credits.

Diamond Valley Pro

Playtech, too, has a diamond-themed online slot game for its players. It is a version of the earlier slot Diamond Valley. Casinos offering Diamond Cave are also offering this game. The game features a diamond valley in North America with symbols from the Wild West like Indian chief, cowboy, and a lady carrying a bag of diamonds. The wild symbol is tequila. The scatter symbol is vulture. The bonus symbol is diamond.

The game contains awesome audio track as well as animations. When players activate the bonus game, they see three characters on the screen. Players are required to pick one of the characters for free spins. For the multiplier, players need to choose an item that the character is carrying. The game lets players grab up to 20 free spins, along with a multiplier of ×10 at the most.

Diamond Dozen

With diamonds becoming a popular theme of slots, how can Realtime Gaming lag behind? It offers Diamond Dozen, the online game that uses diamond as a jewelry piece. The wild and scatter symbols are white diamond and blue diamond, respectively. The other symbols include a diamond-embedded purse and a diamond ring. The high-value card symbols, too, are diamond embossed.

When three or more scatter symbols appear from right to left on the screen, the free spins bonus is activated. The game offers 12 free spins with doubled payouts. Players can also reactivate the spins.

Players can also enjoy the Diamond Delight bonus game, which begins when three or more white gems appear on the reels anywhere. Each white diamond contains a number, which is multiplied with other white diamond numbers. This activates a bet for the bonus.

Players can play Diamond Dozen at casinos like Silver Oak, Slots Jungle, and Cherry Red. Indeed, diamonds are ruling the roost at online casinos. It’s expected that diamond themes will attract players in swarms, especially the women players.
