Americas Cardroom’s Liberty Weekends Gets An Overwhelming Response

It seems that online poker has changed, at least at one poker site – Americas Cardroom. Its Weekends promotion promises to be a great success, as hundreds of die-hard poker fans are joining the tables for the promotion of $500,000 series.

The Liberty Weekends, that kicked off on March 31, will offer online poker tournaments giving away half a million dollars in prize pools. The promotion will continue for five weekends. The inaugural event saw 140 players registering for the tournament. This event featured $10,000 Guaranteed prize. Because of the overwhelming response, its prize pool raised to $13,400.

On April 1, the $50,000 Guaranteed saw 178 players and the game ended with giving away $11,250 in prize. Looking at the growing player crowd at the promotions, Cardroom has decided to extend its poker time of Sunday tournaments by one hour. So, the No Limit Hold’em tournaments will see their way through 1900 hours ET. The $50,000 Guaranteed will give away 1000 points in April’s $60,000 Points Race. The $10,000 online poker tournaments, which will see through 2100 hours ET on weekends, will give away 200 points in this month’s $60,000 Points Race.

The high point of Liberty Weekends will be on April 15 in the $250,000 Guaranteed tournament at 1900 hours ET. The day marks the Black Friday anniversary, which the poker world is eagerly looking forward to. Online players can grab their seats without delay by buying in directly or via a satellite. This Guaranteed poker tournament will give away 7500 points in $60,000 Points Race.

Before that, on April 13, Americas Cardroom will hold a Super Satellite with 250 seats for the Liberty Quarter Million. Players entering this satellite can collect 1000 points for this month’s Points Race.

Chests of Plenty jackpot at sky Vegas is the place to be this month

Whereas the poker rooms see a huge rush for Liberty Weekends luck, here is something for casino players. Sky Vegas is offering a whopping GBP 500,000 jackpot in the casino game Chests of Plenty.

Chests of Plenty is a vibrant and easy-to-play online game, enjoying extreme popularity among regular players. The game features five reels, 20 pay-lines, and has a pirate theme. It consists of a Chest Bonus game, which is a scatter bonus. Players can win it by earning three chest symbols on the reels anywhere.

During the game, three chests shift into the center of the screen. They open to show three gems present in each chest. The players getting three similar gems in a chest get a prize, the amount of which depends on the gem type and total stake. Players win a jackpot when all nine gems they earn are diamonds.

Sky Vegas is also offering Jackpot Cashdrops. The players who win this jackpot may also get a share of GBP 1000, which is randomly transferred to the players’ account. This means that the players who are at Sky Vegas this month got nothing to lose. What better way than this to try the luck?

New Games And Redesigned Software Mark The New Year Season

Titan Poker, one of most popular online poker rooms, has upgraded its software in a bid to fasten its loading power and improve performance. The software has been redesigned completely to achieve desired results.

The new software has a new size that puts almost zero strain on the eyes. With 1000×700 pixels and easy navigation menu, it promises poker players to detect cash tables with ease and to join the tournaments of their choice without hassles. The new software’s menu harbors a graphical list of games, tournaments, and tables, plus a “quick seat” feature that enables players make their choice in seconds.

The redesigned lobby allows players to keep track of their progress statistics on point buildups, number of hands played, and their status of bonus redemption.

But, Titan Poker has also taken care of its players that love the old version. Players can easily switch back to the older viewing mode of the game with just a click of their PC mouse.

Redesigning new software is one of the latest and the most noteworthy steps to enhance the online gaming experience. But, Titan Poker is not content with this. More attractive changes are in the pipeline.

For example, Titan Poker will launch new tournaments, along with more interesting promos and gaming activities that intend to lure novices as well as veteran poker players on the web. Till then, players can try out the newly designed poker software by downloading it from the site absolutely free.

This Season’s New Online Games

On one hand, there is redesigning of software; on the other hand, there are top online casinos ready with new games to let players kick off the New Year with smashing hits.

The new games are Megaspin Break da Bank Again and The Grand Journey, both from Microgaming. One of the casinos that have launched the new games in the first week of this month includes Internet Casino La Vida.

The release of both these games, once again, reflects the ability of Microgaming to capture the players’ imagination and present them in the form of graphics on screen. These launches also indicate that Microgaming intends to provide many other surprises to its players throughout the year.

Megaspin Break da Bank Again is based on the original game “Break da Bank Again.” It has increased the action by four, which helps it provide a super slot, along with high rewarding combinations of Scatter and massive Free Spins. When Scatter symbols of 2, 4, or 5 appear, players get 15 to 25 free spins. During this, all the wins by players are multiplied by 5.

The Grand Journey has surged the most excitement in the gaming world this month. It features a prehistoric backdrop with early-age animals wandering across the landscape. The game also has angry volcanoes at their full bursting stages and stunning Amazons featuring dense and lush forests. All this makes for a vibrant and interesting game screen. Players get transported to another world, which gives them a unique “gaming high.” The Free Spins Bonuses, Expanding Wilds, Multipliers, and other such features bring a sense of familiarity to this prehistoric backdrop.

Players can play both the newly launched games by registering free at Casino La Vida.

A New World Record Made In Online Poker This Month!

“Nanonoko” set a world record in the first weekend of 2012 for online poker, playing eight hours at a stretch! The real name is Randy Lew, who played at PokerStars online poker site.

Lew played an astounding 23,493 hands within an eight-hour terrific play. There are about 40 tables operating simultaneously. Playing a large number of tables at the same time is not a big deal, as many players do it. The amazing thing is that Lew managed to play all the tables profitably – this is what only a few players have achieved so far. And this is what makes “Nanonoko” stand out in the crowd of players.

As said that success doesn’t come in easy, Lew, too, experienced a low at one point during the play. He stooped to $1200, fading his hopes of winning and almost forgetting making a world record. But, winners never quit! Lew continue to fight in the online poker battle. It paid and how!

Where it Happened and How

Lew achieved this incredible feat at the annual PCA poker festival of PokerStar in the Bahamas. This is one of the renowned events of live poker. The gigantic prizes and tempting locations make this event alluring to the gamblers.

One of the noteworthy features of Lew’s feat was the continuous eight-hour play that not many players dare to do. Two monitors brimming with poker tables sat before this “wonder” player who was ready to take up the challenges thrown by the poker screens. The player played about 50 hands per minute or maybe one hand every 1.2 seconds to play 23,493 hands in eight hours!

Originally, Robert Lew created history by playing 20+ poker tables at a time at mid- and high stakes and by winning consistently. This is almost an impossible feat to achieve in online poker. Last year, too, Lew played more live tournaments with great success there too. “Nanonoko” won his first big live event at APPT Macau in 2011.

Players like Lew and more can set examples of focused gaming and persistent playing to grab big wins and change the wheels of fortune for the best. This might even encourage the governments of various states to legalize online poker and promote more such festivals and tournaments to let people not only woo, but also befriend their lady luck!

A New Casino Ship Sails Soon

While history was made at PokerStar, Palm Beach got a new casino ship approved! The debate still continues on whether the government should permit casinos. Overlooking this debate, the Palm Beach city officials took the decision and gave the green signal to Black Diamond Casino to sail twice a day.

Black Diamond is a 160-foot ship that can accommodate 550 passengers. The casino ship will sail in March this year. Passengers can start gambling as soon as the ship enters international waters. Players get the privilege to play slot machines, roulette, blackjack, and poker.

Who knows? The ship may become the hotspot for another world record in the making by some passionate player!

Finally, Reparation On Horizon For Full Tilt Users

The crackdowns on several major U.S. online poker sites not only affected the career prospects of several hundred online poker pros but also resulted in thousands of players losing their hard-earned deposits. Nevertheless, for the first time, there is definite hope on the horizon for former Full Tilt Poker patrons.

The Rise and Fall of Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker has since shut down its operations following the Black Friday indictments, but just a short while back, it was one of the biggest players in the online gambling scene in the United States. Established just a few short years back in 2004, Full Tilt Poker nevertheless enjoyed a fairy–tale, meteoric rise, reaping millions of dollars of profits every year.

Full Tilt Poker was launched by parent company TiltWare, LLC, in June 2004 and began operations on July 2004 with the involvement of several major poker pros, including Andy Bloch, Chris Ferguson Howard Lederer, Jennifer Harman, Mike Matusow, and Phil Ivey. The site offered several online poker rooms and was a major force behind the popularity of online poker tournaments. The Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS), established in August 2006, had the highest stakes in online poker games, and a hundred of the biggest online pots of 2009 were earned during the 2009 FTOPS.

However, on April 15, 2011, Full Tilt Poker, along with several other online poker operators, had their domains seized by the FBI as part of a series of indictments, which has since been dubbed the “Black Friday” indictments by online poker players.

Players Become Collateral Damage

The Black Friday operations were a major blow to the various online poker sites. In addition to calling the Internet gambling giants to account on several serious criminal charges, including illegal gambling and money laundering, the Department of Justice also froze several of the companies’ main offshore accounts. Full Tilt in particular lost around $40 million as a result of a frozen offshore account. Following the various indictments, Full Tilt completely shut down their operations in June.

The freezing of the accounts of several of the online poker sites, including Full Tilt Poker, by the U.S. Department of Justice meant that the players were unable to reclaim their original deposits, let alone their winnings on the site. Thousands of poker players around the world found themselves out in the cold as they were unable to access the money credited to their accounts.

Hope for the Thousands Who Lost Cash in the Crackdown

However, the latest news indicates a positive outcome is finally in the cards for the beleaguered gamblers as a French investment corporation has started negotiations with the Department of Justice to take over the Full Tilt Poker operations. There is a strong possibility that, as a result of these negotiations, the DOJ might well unfreeze the accounts of the former online poker giant. If this should happen, then users who lost their money to the crackdown may finally appeal to the Department of Justice for compensation as well as a refund on the money in their accounts.

However, while most would agree that reparation for Full Tilt users is only fair, industry insiders are still skeptical about how successful the compensation claims will turn out to be. Many of the former players on the site are nevertheless cautiously optimistic.

Right now, though, everyone concerned is following a strict wait-and-see policy as they keenly observe the tabled negotiations between the French company and the Department of Justice.

WSOP 2011 November Nine Congratulated

On the eighth day of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the November Nine were finally named and HollywoodPoker have now congratulated them for making the event one of the world’s largest poker championships.

The November Nine

The final hand was dealt at 2:10 am. Eoghan O’Dea beat John Hewitt with his KJ against the Costa Rican’s pocket 33. Once Hewitt had been eliminated, the November Nine was clear.

The November Nine who made it to the WSOP 2011 Main Event final table were:

  • Martin Stasyko (Cyech Republic)
  • Eoghan O’ Dea (Dublin, Ireland)
  • Matt Giannetti (Las Vegas, NV)
  • Phil Collins (Las Vegas, NV)
  • Ben Lamb (Tulsa, OK)
  • Badih Bou-Nahra (Beliye City, Beliye)
  • Pius Heiny (Cologne, Germany)
  • Anton Makiievskyi (Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine)
  • Samuel Holden (Sussex, UK).

The event

Before the Main Event final table the competition was fierce. The worldwide appeal is even evident within the final nine players. Altogether, 6,858 poker players entered the WSOP 2011 and a prize pool of $64.5 million has been collected for the tournament. Even though there were many negative thoughts surrounding “Black Friday,” WSOP 2011 has been heralded as the third largest event of its kind in history.

A large and varied number of poker players came to take part in the event, mainly due to the fame and fortune connected to the WSOP. Participants included online poker players, live poker professional, and celebrities including Nelly. A number of poker websites used satellites in order to allow players to take part in the WSOP 2011.

HollywoodPoker

HollywoodPoker got involved with a large number of poker tournament qualifiers in order to give their players a good chance of playing in the WSOP 2011. The event qualifiers took a number of different formats including Daily Qualifiers, which involved a small buy-in of only $2.20, and also $35 Sit N Go Qualifiers. The site also included free-roll tournaments connected to the WSOP 2011 online poker satellite. This gave players the chance to win WSOP Main Event packages without the need for spending money on a buy-in. In total, HollywoodPoker gave away nine WSOP 2011 Main Event packages, each worth $14,000, as well as 36 Side Event packages valued at $3,600 each.

“HollywoodPoker aimed to make the WSOP 2011 main events accessible to poker players, no matter the size of their bankroll. The same actually goes with other big live poker events such as the GSOP Live and World Poker Tour,” poker room manager at HollywoodPoker, Ronald M., explained. “We want online poker players to thrive in live poker tournaments as well.”

Remaining tournaments

All of the November Nine are guaranteed to walk away with a money prize of at least $782,115, meaning they will all be millionaires once the championship is over. But, the pressure is still on. The last of the WSOP 2011 poker tournaments will start on November the 5th, 2011 and the WSOP champion will be revealed on November the 7th, 2011.
