It is time to bid goodbye to 2010. American land-based gaming maestros Caesars Entertainment Corporation have decided to usher in the New Year by announcing the schedule of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournament. The announcement stated that the 42nd edition of the games will commence on Tuesday, May 31 and end on Tuesday, July 19. The complete schedule listing the exact dates, times, individual tournaments, and buy-ins will be released sometime in January. This 50-day event will begin the very next day of the Memorial Day holiday in America.
About The Grand Event
Anybody over the age of 21 can participate in the games. The games will be held at the Convention Center at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Rio is a great place which can manage to fit all the players. Earlier, there were baseless rumors that WSOP is changing the venue from the Rio to Planet Hollywood. The grapevine is also abuzz with the talks of WSOP owners, Harrah’s Entertainment, nearing to close a purchase deal with Planet Hollywood, which is located at the heart of the Strip.
There are over 40 events to be held in the tournament. The most important event will start on July 7 and will continue till July 10. This final tournament will be concluded on July 19. The final tournament will have a final table consisting of nine players. The prestigious game will give millions of dollars in prize and the celebrated gold bracelet, the sport’s top prize.
The New Rule
The announcement from Caesar added that players would be playing a maximum of ten levels per day. After the completion of the ten levels, the remaining players can have their chips bagged and tagged. They will return to the tournament the next day to continue with the game. Hard stop times will be imposed on the players after ten levels, irrespective of the players remaining in the game. This rule will be enforced for all bracelet events. Even the tournament directors will not be permitted to extend play to narrow the field on any day. This means that some events might last longer than scheduled.
